Lutexin is an extract of Tagetes erecta, commonly known as African Marigold or Marigold, a plant belonging to the Asteraceae family, originally from Mexico and Central America. The Lutexin extract contains a specific proportion of lutein and zeaxanthin, carotenoids that are particularly abundant in the retina and macula and must be supplemented through diet since they are not synthesized by the body.

The unique extraction method allows the xanthophylls to remain intact, thus achieving a specific concentration and ratio of lutein and zeaxanthin that matches the natural levels found in the human body.
