Mechanism of Action

The anti-cholesterolemic activity of Oxicolest works through multiple mechanisms: modulation of HMGCoA reductase, a key enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis; reduction of hepatic LDL absorption; increased elimination of free cholesterol through bile production; and activation of the PCSK9, SREBP-2, and ERK/MAPK pathways involved in lipid metabolism regulation.

Compared to Monacolin K, Red Yeast Rice Fermented, and Benchmark, the Oxicolest combination demonstrated statistically superior results (p<0.05) across all analyzed parameters: cell viability, cholesterol biosynthesis, LDL uptake, total and free cholesterol, and bile production. The synergy between the selected extracts significantly amplified the anti-cholesterolemic effect of the formulation.

Safety and Tolerability

The conducted studies confirmed that Oxicolest does not induce any cytotoxic effect on HepG2 hepatic cells, actually recording cell viability values higher than the control. This safety profile, combined with the demonstrated efficacy, makes Oxicolest a valid natural alternative to Red Yeast Rice for hypercholesterolemia management.
